THE ATLANTIC COAST BRITTANY

In under an hour you can go bathing in Pornic or La Baule, or escape from it all; head for Belle-île. The diversity of the scenery around Nantes is exceptional. Côte d'Amour, Côte de Jade, or Côte Sauvage, the Atlantic coast will take you on unforgettable journeys.

La Baule is the west of France's chic seaside resort, with a 9km long beach;
Pornic, last Breton port with its charming creeks of orange-coloured sand.

Saint-Brévin-les-Pins with its wide beaches for kite-flying and sand-surfing. Pornic's sea water therapy centre set in a calming decor.  We recommend you take a walk along the smugglers' path.

La Baule is a living museum of seaside resort life and harbours hundreds of villas of many different styles, a casino and a sea-water therapy centre.
Le Croisic and La Turballe, two working fishing ports (see the auctions) on the edge of the salt marshes- you must see how the salt from Guerande is collected; an outing in a unique ecological spot.

Along the south Brittany coast, le Golfe de Morbihan, which according to legend has as many islands as there are days in the year. The bay is renowned for its water and it is also an important oyster farming centre. The Quiberon peninsula, the rivers Auray and Etel, the islands of the open sea ( Houat, Hédic, Groix, Belle-île-en-Mer). The coastline is a popular place for shell-fishing during high tide.

Noirmoutier - île aux Mimosas, take the passage du Goix - underwater passageway accessible during low tide. From St Jean de Monts to St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie go from peaceful creeks to equipped beaches, forests and sand dunes. Further south Les Sables d'Olonne - starting point for a world tour as the Vendée Globe sets off from here !
