LAC DE GRAND LIEU (LE)

Unique in Europe, its winter floods make this lake the largest natural one in France. Its expanse and its shallowness are like those of the great lakes of Africa.

This nature reserve contains 250 species of birds, including the largest colony of grey herons. The lake is not easy to reach and may be seen from Passay or St Aignan-de-Grand-Lieu.
