De l'art des enseignes - "Shop Signs"

In the city centre

By asking local businesses to allow artists to reinterpret their signage, Le Voyage à Nantes involves the active members of the city in a creative process.

As unexpected apparitions, the artist's proposals come to disrupt the signs that characterize the shopping streets of Nantes.

There are so many paintings, portraits that deceive us, illuminate us, blend genres and blur the frontier between finery and storefronts, games and stakes of the modern sign along the green line..

LISA LAUBREAUX
LES PERCHEURS
In the form of hand-painted wooden signs, the artist-illustrator Lisa Laubreaux materializes a gallery of characters presented as balanced above the passers-by. In winks to the names of the businesses to which they relate, these characters could just as easily tell other stories ...

LE GENTIL GARÇON
HAÏCOOL
The "Gentil Garçon" presents a series of haiku in the city: sometimes the signs are revisited according to the function, the design or the state of mind (supposed) of the trade, sometimes they tell a story, playing with the immediate vicinity.

GRÉGOIRE ROMANET
ZONES SENSIBLES
The artist offers an offbeat view of the city's signs. Distracted from their function, these placards account for the commercial activities in a narrative language close to that of the comic strip. Each set of panels constitutes a "sensitive zone": a concrete, tangible, visual space, an invitation to reverie, to contemplation.

JÉRÉMIE RIGAUDEAU
ABSURDOGRAPHIE
The proposals of Jérémie Rigaudeau reveal a humor sometimes light, sometimes biting. Armed with derision, the artist enjoys both the name of the trade and the service proposed to come to create signs that take the opposite! A sheep count far too energetic to envisage a sleeping without difficulty on a hotel or even a planisphere where the continents do not remain in place and renew our vision of the world ...

QUENTIN FAUCOMPRÉ, OLIVIER TEXIER ET PASCAL LEBRAIN
VIVA LAS VEGAS !
Like a story with a blinking storyline, the three artists create an imaginary city light track game that infiltrates the streets. In turn, sculptures, word games spatial, fantastic and fantastic details spring from the facades to cause astonishment, smile, surprise.
