INVENDUS – BOTTES

LILIAN BOURGEAT

At the heart of the vegetable garden known as the Potager de la Cantine, Lilian Bourgeat adds his comic and allegorical vision of a garden farmer who forgot one of his tools after a hard day’s work: a pair of rubber boots. Everyday subjects and the exploration of unique situations are at the heart of the artist’s work. His hyperrealist (yet larger-than-life) objects exist on the border separating functionality from excess. By injecting confusion into our grasp of reality, they disturb the normal course of events.

Now a permanent fixture of the vegetable garden, this brand-new pair of two neglected right-foot boots –  three metres (10 feet) tall, size 2,000, and destined to live forever in the “invendu” (or “unsold”) bin – invites visitors to construct a new narrative of a contemporary tale.
