Château de Châteaubriant
A medieval fortress and a Renaissance structure
The Château de Châteaubriant combines ten centuries of history.
Circa 1050, Lord Brient had a first castle built on this rocky promontory. From 1490 onwards, Françoise de Dinan (the governess of Queen Anne of Brittany), and later Jean de Laval transformed the former courtyard, building a Renaissance residence and gardens.
