La Maison Radieuse
“La Maison Radieuse” is emblematic of Le Corbusier’s vision of architecture for the good of human development.
The tower block, which can be seen from various points in Nantes is the second housing project by the famous architect, following on from one in Marseille and preceding the one in Berlin. Based on the modular system and the Golden Ratio, Le Corbusier developed his idea of apartments built inside a framework of re-enforced posts and beams which was at the time absolutely revolutionary and has since become commonplace. Here is a building on pilotis with a facade mixing balconies and skylights making bright sunny homes all year round.
